What is Matcha?

Matcha is a fine powder made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, the same plant used to make green tea.

Matcha is a type of green tea powder made from ground tea leaves.

It has a distinctively grassy, vegetal flavor that pairs perfectly with cold milk or plant-based alternatives like oat milk or almond milk.

Unlike regular green tea, which uses steeped leaves, matcha powder is fully dissolved in hot water before being consumed.

As a result, it contains more antioxidants than regular green tea and provides more energy-boosting benefits as well.

Making an Iced Matcha Latte

Making an iced matcha latte at home is surprisingly simple!

An iced matcha latte is easy to make at home with just a few ingredients.

All you need are some basic kitchen tools like a whisk or spoon, measuring cups and spoons, and either a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl for heating the liquid ingredients.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make it:

  1. Start by sifting 2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a bowl.
  2. Then add 2 ounces of hot water and whisk together until the matcha is completely dissolved. If using honey or any other type of sweetener, add it now and stir until combined.
  3. Fill up a cup with ice cubes and pour in 1 cup of desired milk over top.
  4. Slowly pour the whisked matcha mixture into the cup over top of the ice and milk mixture.
  5. Stir everything together until blended well. If desired, you can use a frother to mix in some air bubbles for added texture and creaminess.
  6. Enjoy your refreshingly cool Iced Matcha Latte!

You can also customize this recipe by adding flavors like cinnamon or vanilla extract for added sweetness or depth of flavor.

The Benefits of Drinking Matcha

An iced matcha latte can give your day an energizing kick without the crash associated with coffee drinks.

Matcha also contains healthy antioxidants that help keep your skin looking young while boosting your immune system too!

Plus, it’s much lower in caffeine than coffee so you won’t be up all night if you have one after dinner.

Finally, making this drink yourself ensures that you know exactly what ingredients are going into it; no added sugars or artificial flavors here!

Tips for Matcha Lovers:

  • Add a sweetener like honey or agave syrup if desired, but taste it first before adding anything else as matcha already has a natural sweetness.

Enjoy your delicious cup of matcha! 🙂
